Savoring Ahangama: Top Dining Spots in South Sri Lanka

Ahangama is one of Sri Lanka's up-and-coming hipster surf towns, where we stayed. It’s 30-minutes away from Mirissa and from Galle. Here are some of my favourite restaurants and cafes nearby.

THE KIP - Cafe The Kip is an ideal spot for breakfast and lunch, offering a choice of three meals from their menu (as pictured) for 2400 LKR (around 7 euros) or four selected options for 2900 LKR. The delightful food, lush greenery, and overall ambiance make this place truly amazing.

CACTUS - Another excellent option for breakfast and lunch is Cactus restaurant, located right on the beach. They provide a variety of foods, including my favorites: Acai bowls, Japanese pancakes, and avocado toast.

MARSHMELLOW - Marshmallow Cafe is a charming, boho-styled spot located right on the beach, offering a delightful ambiance and a menu featuring a variety of amazing foods. Moreover, Marshmellow has offered the best coffee I've had in Sri Lanka so far. They provide a variety of beans, including Sri Lankan, Colombian, and Brazilian, and the coffee is truly AMAZING!

HARDING HOTEL - My absolute favourite spot was the rooftop restaurant at Harding Hotel, offering beautiful views and serving exceptional dishes, particularly the chicken curry, dumplings, and seafood. What stood out the most, however, was the incredible staff.

CITRA - A culinary experience that is nestled between palm trees and the Indian Ocean, Citra offers a fusion of Middle Eastern, Italian, and Sri Lankan influences. Keep in mind that you should book a table beforehand there, because Citra tends to be full especially in the evening.

CRUST PIZZA - Crust Pizza offers a good selection of tasty pizzas and tacos. It is also located right on the beach.

SURF HOUSE AHANGAMA - They serve up some great local and international food and also very good coffee!

BIG MIGHTY - Perfect place for quality comfort food!

These were my personal favorite restaurants and cafes on the south coast of Sri Lanka, mostly close to Ahangama beach. Hopefully, you find it useful!
